Essential oils have a variety of uses, unique to the plant it came from. This week we are going to talk about Allspice Berry! The oils scent is a warm spicy aroma, like cloves and cinnamon. Perfect for the fall months, which brings memories of apple pies and happy holidays, to me at least.

Allspice is a plant that comes from the Caribbean Islands that is also known as Pimento. To get this spice, you can get the whole berries at your local grocery store, as well as the ground version. Steam distilled is the typical way this oil is made, so unless you know how to do that, then buying it as an oil is best. However, since the oil is strong, it needs to be diluted, because it can cause mucus membrane irritation or even skin irritation.

Allspice berry uses are:

  • Analgesic
  • Antioxidant
  • Antiseptic
  • Relaxant
  • Rubefacient
  • Stimulant
  • Anti-depressive
  • Carminative
  • Digestive
  • Warming Anesthetic

You can blend this oil with ginger, bergamot, lavender, orange, patchouli, as well as ylang-ylang. A favorite mix of mine is allspice berry and orange! Let me know what your favorite mixes are in the comments below. Also don’t forget to check out my galleries and buy your favorites.
