Have you ever wondered what the meaning behind certain flowers? I have always loved looking at birth flowers, the flowers associated to each month. Each month has its own birthstone, flower, and just about anything else. Here we’ll go over each month and what the flowers symbolizes.

January

The flower of January is the carnation. Depending of color, the meaning of a carnation can vary. For instance, White suggests pure love. While light red means admiration and dark red means deep love and affection. While purple implies capriciousness, pink represent a mother’s undying love.

February

February flower is the violet, which signifies humility, faithfulness, loyalty, and modesty.

March

Daffodil is the flower for March, and represents friendship, joy, and sunshine.

April

April’s flower is the daisy. The daisy conveys innocence and purity. Also, they can mean true love.

May

The May birth flower is the lily of the valley. This flower signifies sweetness, humility, and virture.

June

Roses belong to the month of June. Likewise, they carry a variety of meanings depending on the color. A pink rose means perfect happiness, while a red rose means “I love you.” A white rose signifies innocence, purity, and new beginnings. A yellow rose conveys friendship.

July

The July flower is the larkspur. Larkspur is symbolic of a beautiful spirit, and swiftness. Furthermore, it also symbolizes fickleness and levity.

August

August belongs to the flower gladiolus. Also known as the  ‘sword lily,’  it represents remembrance and strength of character.

September

The flower for September is the aster. The aster symbolizes dantiness, love, and good luck.

October

The month of October belongs to the flower marigold. They are a sign of warm undying love.

November

Chrysanthemum is for the month of November. Traditionally this flower represents wisdom and nobility. Another, more current meaning, is long life and hope.

December

For December we have the flower narcissus, which means youth, good fortune, and beauty.
